Understanding Pre-Authorization - Allied Medical Center
Pre-Authorization

Understanding Pre-Authorization

Pre-Authorization Visual

What is Pre-Authorization?

Some insurance policies require prior approval before specific diagnostic procedures or medical treatments. This ensures the clinical service is covered under your specific insurance plan benefits.

When is it Required?

Pre-authorization is typically mandatory for advanced diagnostic imaging (3T MRI, 512-slice CT scans), specialized consultations, and most elective surgical or medical procedures.

How We Help

Our dedicated Insurance Coordinators at Allied Medical Center will assist you in obtaining pre-authorization, managing the submission of medical reports and clinical documentation to your insurer.

Timeline

The process typically takes 1-3 business days depending on your provider. We recommend planning ahead and contacting our team early to avoid any unnecessary delays in your clinical care.

Insurance & Billing FAQs

Which medical insurance networks do you accept for direct billing?
We partner with over 50 major health insurance providers in the UAE for direct billing, including Daman, Nextcare, NAS, Neuron, Bupa, and SAICO. Please contact our reception team to verify if your specific network tier is covered.
What happens if my insurance company is not on your list?
If your insurance policy is out-of-network, you can easily use our "Pay and Claim" facility. You simply pay at the time of your visit, and we will provide you with a fully stamped claim form and itemized invoice to submit to your provider for quick reimbursement.
Do I need to bring my Emirates ID to use my health insurance?
Yes. Presenting a valid physical or digital Emirates ID is a mandatory Dubai Health Authority (DHA) requirement for all patients. We need it to verify your identity and successfully process any direct billing insurance claims.
Do I need a doctor's referral for my insurance to cover a specialist?
While Allied Medical Center does not require a referral to book a specialist, many UAE insurance policies mandate a General Practitioner (GP) referral before they will cover the cost of a specialist consultation. We highly advise checking your specific policy terms beforehand.
Will my insurance cover all diagnostic tests and procedures?
Coverage depends entirely on your specific health plan. Certain diagnostic imaging (like MRI or CT scans), specific lab tests, or procedures may require pre-authorization from your insurance company. Our dedicated insurance team handles this approval process for you.
Do I have to pay a co-pay or deductible at the clinic?
Yes, most UAE health insurance policies include a co-pay or deductible amount for consultations and pharmacy services. This percentage or fixed amount is determined directly by your insurance provider and is payable at the clinic reception.
Can I use my international travel health insurance?
Yes, we welcome international patients and tourists. While we cannot always direct-bill international travel insurance networks, we will provide all the necessary medical reports, payment receipts, and stamped forms you need to claim the costs back in your home country.
